It’s priority registration time!
While dancers are in the busiest part of their dance season—preparing for recitals or exams or competitions—parents are witnessing their dancers’ amazing growth and imagining what the next season will look like. Maybe there will be new friends starting to dance, younger siblings slipping on their tap shoes for the first time, or seasoned dancers coming back for more. Whatever your experience level, Prestige Dance Academy welcomes you to register for our twenty-third season.
Registration is always a bit different between different activities and websites, so we’re here to give you a quick guide to our registration process for the upcoming season.
Registration for Returning Dancers
Current students, keep your eyes open for your Pre-Approved Class List in your emails. At the end of each season, your teachers give recommendations for next year’s classes based on your current classes. As always, if you wish to add additional dance styles or classes to your repertoire, we are happy to help you find classes that will suit your needs.
Many of our classes fill very quickly, so each year, Prestige opens a priority registration for our current dance families before opening the schedule to the public. The priority registration also aids us in seeing where there may be a need for additional classes to better serve you.
General Registration
Once you have made your account at your preferred location(s) at prestigedance.com, you will have access to the detailed schedules either on the website or through the Prestige app.
In order to hold your dancer’s spot in a class, upon registering you will pay the fee for the first and last months, the costume fee (for the 10-month or 6-month programs), and a $50 registration fee. The costume fee is for their costume for the June recital at the end of the season.
If you are registering for a sessional program, there is one flat payment for the set number of classes, and there are no costume fees since these programs do not participate in recitals.
After your registration is complete, you will receive a Welcome Package in your email with important information regarding our policies, important dates, and uniform requirements.
FAQs
Q: I’m not quite sure which class will fit our schedule until later this summer, but I don’t want to lose my spot. Am I able to switch classes after registering?
A: Yes. If you require a class change after registering, our administrative staff will be able to do the transfer for you, as long as there is space in the class to which you wish to transfer.
Q: How do I know which class is the best fit for me?
A: If you have previously danced with Prestige, you will have received a pre-approved class list in your email. If this is your first time with Prestige, look for classes within your age range and on days that work best for you.
When looking at which dance style will fit you best, there are a few options:
1) Browse our class descriptions on our website or speak with our administrative staff to learn more about the dance styles offered. Are you looking for something slower and controlled like ballet, or rhythmic and energetic like tap?
2) Register in our summer camps. We offer an array of classes in our summer camps to give a taste of several dance styles in one, fun-filled week. These camps can give you a taste of what your favourite styles might be and give you a head start for the upcoming season.
Q: The class I wanted to register in is full; will another class open up?
A: If the class you registered in is full, you will be put on a waitlist in a first-come, first-serve priority order. Often classes continue to change around, so you may be off the waitlist sooner than you expect. If there is a popular demand, a second class may be put on the schedule, or class size may be increased, depending on studio and teacher availability. We want to ensure that each dancer gets the individual attention and space they need to thrive, so we work hard to attain specific ratios.
Q: Can I register in a class that says “Intensive” beside it?
A: Intensive classes are reserved for students in our competitive (intensive) program. To participate in these programs, dancers aged 6+ must attend our auditions at the end of the season or schedule individual assessments to see where they would best fit. The Intensive Program has certain prerequisites and a higher level of commitment than the Recreational Program.
If you have any questions regarding the registration process, please reach out to our staff. We are excited for you to join us for another exciting season of happy, active kids who thrive.
