The 5Ws of Back to Dance
This summer was an exhilarating whirlwind of dance camps, guest teachers, and planning, but nothing is more exciting than to welcome our yearly dancers back in the hallways for another fun-filled season of dance.
Every year, Prestige’s new season welcomes back dancers that have been with us for years while also welcoming brand new dancers. No matter which category you fall into, after turning off our regular schedules for the summer, we can all use a reminder of the who, what, where, when, and how of preparing for the upcoming season.
Who
One thing that smooths those first days for all dancers is knowing who their teachers are. If you have the Prestige Dance App (available for free in the App Store), under your class list, you will be able to see who your instructor is in the far right column. If you’ve never met your teacher before, when you arrive at the studio you can take a look on the photo wall. The teachers are so excited to meet all of their new students.
We always love to stop and chat with you, but these first few weeks are extremely busy for teachers as we try to direct dancers to the correct spot, so make sure to send us an email if you have any questions or chat with our friendly client care team.
What
Upon registration, you should have received our Welcome Package in your email (if you haven’t please give us a call or send us an email), that outlines what the different hair and clothing expectations are for the different classes and their different levels.
We all know that kids grow like flowers in the spring and summer, so we highly suggest dancer try on all of their dance attire before their first day of dance to ensure it fits. If you find that you are missing some items for your uniform, Prestige Dance Academy’s South and West locations sell Preschool sizes of tap and ballet shoes as well as a selection of bodysuits and tights for our younger dancers. If you require other sizes or styles, we suggest visiting Bodythings, City Dancewear, or Müge, where they have a wide selection, an extensive knowledge base, and fantastic customer service.
Where
Since Prestige Dance Academy is blessed with an incredible community that continues to grow, it is important to verify which location you have registered at. The day before your first class, you will receive an email that will tell you which studio you are in at that location so you are able to confidently find your way.
When
The first week of classes for the 2024 – 2025 dance season begins on Monday, September 9, 2024. For other notable dates for this season—such as Christmas Break and Recital Days—please read our Welcome Package.
When entering class, be sure that your dancer has used the washroom, has their hair tied back securely, and has a water bottle to avoid unnecessary disruptions during class. It is especially important for preschool dancers to use the washroo
m before their classes because washroom breaks have a domino effect in those classes.
How
Knowing how to keep in touch is key to a successful season. Please make sure that you have opted-in to our emails on your account, download the Prestige Dance App, book private lessons through the Jane App, and follow us on social media.
