Miss Gemma Smith has Registered Teacher Status with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD RTS) and is an Associate member (ARAD) having achieved her Advanced 2 through the Royal Academy of Dance, London, UK. She has her Level 4 Diploma in Musical Theatre from Trinity College, London and a diploma in Performing Arts from Stella Mann College. Miss Gemma has danced and choreographed all over the world, including dancing on Cruise Lines where she got the opportunity to complete a World Cruise.
Originally from a small town in England, Miss Gemma began dancing at a very young age. Her early years saw her dance and perform with many stars on the stage and screen and through this, she got the opportunity to perform in Disney World Resort, Florida as part of Magic Music Days. At the age of 11, Gemma began her vocational training at the Hammond School, Chester, and later Elmhurst School for Dance, Surrey. She supplemented her classical training by attending classes and performing with National Youth Ballet where she worked with Wayne Sleep. She also performed as a soloist with the English Youth Ballet.
Having discovered a passion for the theatre, she embarked on a three-year course at Stella Mann Performing Arts College where she graduated with her Diploma in Musical Theatre and as an Associate of The Royal Academy of Dance (ARAD). Miss Gemma completed the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the RAD and gained Registered Teacher status in 2012 giving her the opportunity to pursue her passion for sharing the art of Ballet and dance with future generations.
In 2013 Miss Gemma made the move to Cold Lake, AB where she took the position of Ballet Instructor with Pirouette School of Dance. During her time at Pirouette, Miss Gemma facilitated the highly successful introduction of ballet exams into their program alongside choreographing award winning pieces for the competitive students.
Miss Gemma joined Prestige in 2019 and is thrilled to be a part of The Prestige faculty again this season.
