Miss Gemma Smith has Registered Teacher Status with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD RTS) and is an Associate member (ARAD) having achieved her Advanced 2 through the Royal Academy of Dance, London, UK. She has her Level 4 Diploma in Musical Theatre from Trinity College, London and has danced all around the world!
Miss Gemma was born in Cheshire, England and began dancing at a very young age. Her early years saw her dance and perform with many theatre and tv stars and saw her invited to perform at Magic Music Days in Disney World Resort, Florida. At the age of 11, Gemma was offered a prestigious place at the Hammond School, Chester and later Elmhurst School for Dance, Surrey, to further her training vocationally. She supplemented her classical training by putting herself forward to work with Wayne Sleep for the National Youth Ballet and also getting the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the English Youth Ballet.
Alongside this, Gemma also took part in a number of amateur and professional productions. Having discovered a passion for the theatre, she embarked on a three-year course at Stella Mann College where she graduated with her Diploma in Musical Theatre and as an Associate of The Royal Academy of Dance (ARAD). Since graduating, Gemma has worked in Tenerife, Spain as a dancer and assistant choreographer, and as a dancer/ entertainer for Warner Leisure Breaks at Bodelwyddan Castle, North Wales. She then went on to dance with Fred Olsen Cruise Lines and Discovery Cruise Lines where she got the opportunity to complete a World Cruise! Miss Gemma joined Butterfly Dance Studio, Cheshire in 2010 to continue her professional and teacher development, this is where She completed the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the RAD and gained Registered Teacher status.
In 2013 Miss Gemma made the move to Cold Lake, AB where she took the position of Ballet Instructor. During her time at Pirouette, Miss Gemma has facilitated the highly successful introduction of ballet exams into their program alongside choreographing award-winning pieces for the competitive students. Miss Gemma is thrilled to be joining the Prestige faculty!
